When are kids were young we used to have “date nights” at home, we would put the kids to bed, order are favorite take out and get cozy on the couch with a movie, drinks and a yummy dessert. My husband and I were just discussing how much we enjoyed those date nights at home and wanted to recreate them.
Now we don’t have to put the kids to bed in order to get free time. With a house full of teenagers they often working or doing their own thing with friends. We recently had a night where they were all out of the house and we took advantage of the quiet house by having a date night at home.
Here are some of my favorite things for a date night at home:
Dinner – I don’t want to have to cook dinner, so it’s fun to get take-out from our favorite restaurant.
Dessert – Dessert is a must for any date night! The Breyers Gelato is perfect for date night because it’s decadent and comes in lots of great flavors. I usually pick up a chocolate or caramel variety and a fruity one because you never know what type of mood you’ll be in.
Movie – Our movies of choice are typically action adventure. I’ll take Jason Bourne over a chick flick!
Blanket – Having a blanket so you can cuddle on the couch is a must!
Game – We love to play games and sometimes we like to play a game while we watch the movie. It’s fun to get some time to play a game together kid-free.
Candle – I love my house to smell yummy, especially on stay-at-home date nights!
