Looking for a Mother’s Day gift that won’t break the bank, but will make mom say “Wow!”? Bonus points if it’s homemade right? These DIY bath salts make great gifts! They smell heavenly and give mom an excuse to take a relaxing soak in the tub.

What makes it even better is that you can find everything you need at Target. Because let’s be honest, you were going there anyway.

You’ll need:

  • epsom salt
  • Spritz mini glass jars
  • funnel
  • craft sticks
  • essential oils
  • food coloring (optional)
  • printable sticker paper
  • scissors

Aren’t these corked glass jars pretty? I found them in the party supplies. Give them a wash and dry them thoroughly before using.

Funnel the epsom salt into a glass jar. Each jar holds about a cup of salt. Don’t go too close to the top because you’ll need space for mixing. You could mix everything in a bowl, but this way makes for easy cleanup.

Now add your essential oils. Drop a few drops at a time until you reach your preferred strength. This one is a mix of 15 drops eucalyptus oil and 10 drops peppermint oil. Stir it around with a craft stick.

Adding food coloring is optional, but I usually add it because I love the beautiful colors! Keep in mind that one drop goes a long way. Stir the food coloring in with the craft stick. A few good shakes with the cork on also helps.

Use whatever essential oil combinations you like to create more varieties of bath salts. The orange one is a combination of 10 drops sweet orange oil and 15 drops lime oil. For the other one I simply used lavender oil.

Cut them out and stick them on your lovely homemade bath salts.

Gorgeous.

Mom is going to love them! Or…you know…keep them for yourself. You deserve nice things too.
