DIY Round Hanging Succulent Planter

2/19/19

Just when you think Target’s Dollar Spot couldn’t get any better, they stock the shelf with everything needed to make faux succulent arrangements. Colorful rocks, pretty containers, and a variety of realistic looking succulents…it’s all there! Once you see how easy it is to make this stunning planter on a dollar spot budget you’ll be headed out the door and ready for a Target run!

You’ll need:

  • hanging circular planter ($5 from Target’s Dollar Spot)
  • variety of faux succulents ($1-$3 from Target’s Dollar Spot)
  • small rock filler
  • large rock filler ($3 from Target’s Dollar Spot)
  • wire cutter or heavy duty scissors

Fill the planter with the small rock filler, leaving about an inch of space at the top. They had this in a variety of colors at Target, but I already had a large container of filler from the craft store so I just used that.

Stick the entire stem of the hanging succulent into the rocks.

I cut one of the larger succulent bunches into separate pieces to have a better variety of sized succulents in the planter.

Shimmy each succulent stem into the rocks until the stem is mostly covered. Gently shake the planter to even the rocks out.

Add the large rocks, making sure to cover up any succulent stems that might be showing.

Now sit back and admire your beautiful succulent planter before hanging it on the wall.

I mean, don’t the succulents look super realistic? As someone who has been known to kill even the easiest of real succulents, I’m looking forward to having some greenery finally stick around.

They also have tiny Bullseye dogs (and other figurines) to add to the planter.
