I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of trying out Target’s Hand Made Modern line of arts and crafts supplies. I’ve had my eye on these gorgeous gold foil transfer sheets for a while now, but I wasn’t sure what to do with them. They ended up making their way into my cart along with a wood container and some new blue paint. Before I knew it, I was itching to get home and make this gold foil container.

You’ll need:

  • wood septagon container
  • foil transfers
  • scissors
  • acrylic paint
  • foam brush
  • small paintbrush

First you’ll want to paint the outside of the container with your choice of acrylic paints. I used two different Hand Made Modern paints, 20k gold and satin sea glass. A foam brush worked well for the large area I painted in sea glass. I used a small paintbrush for the gold part and went over it with two layers for solid coverage.

Cut the gold foil designs apart so they’re easier to manage.

Decide where you want the gold foil to be on the container and trim it down to the right size. Peel the white backing sheet off. Place the gold foil sheet in the right spot with the gold side facing up.

Gently rub the transfer stick over the gold foil sheet. Focus on the parts in black because those are actually the pieces that are going to transfer over to your container in gold.

Carefully peel back the sheet. If any part of the design is still stuck on the sheet instead of the container, put the sheet back down and rub it again until the design is completely transferred.

Keep transferring the gold foil designs until your container is covered however you like.

The gold foil is somewhat delicate so I don’t recommend putting it on something that will be handled harshly. I’m using it on my desk to hold markers and pens so I don’t expect to have any problems. The wood septagon container is working out perfectly since it’s sturdy and holds a lot without tipping over. It’s just what I needed!
