Cookie Cutter Bird Feeder with Kaytee Bird Seed

2/6/18

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

This post is sponsored by Kaytee. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Target carries the Kaytee line of small animal and pet bird products like Forti-Diet Nature’s Harvest which provides health and comfort for your small animal or pet bird.   You will also find Kaytee Wild Bird Seed that will attract a wide variety of birds for your backyard birding fun.  You can save on any of these Kaytee products when you download the $2 off coupon for Kaytee Pet and Wild Bird products.

We’ve got a fun project that your kids will enjoy using the Kaytee Birders’ Blend Wild Bird Food.

You can make these Cookie Cutter Bird Feeders and hang them in your yard.   They are fun and easy to make!

Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 package unflavored gelatin
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3 TBSP corn syrup
  • 4 cups Kaytee bird seed

You will also need the following supplies:

  • cookie cutters
  • non-stick cooking spray
  • ribbon
  • straw
  • parchment paper

Mix the warm water and the unflavored gelatin, stir until gelatin is dissolved.  Add the flour and corn syrup and mix will.  Add the Kaytee bird seed and mix until well combined.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place your cookie cutters on top.  You need to spray the inside of each cookie cutter with non-stick cooking spray.

Pack the bird seed mixture into each cookie cutter nice and tight.

Next you want to slide a straw into the mold where you will hang the bird feeder.   I let the mixture harden for 2 hours, removed the straws and then let them set longer (about 12 hours or over night).

Once they are ready, remove them from the cookie cutter and add a ribbon or string through the hole in the bird feeder.

Hang on a tree and watch for birds.   This is such a fun activity to do with kids.  They will love making the cookie cutter bird feeders and then they have fun watching for birds to come and enjoy their creation.

You can pick up Kaytee bird seed and other Kaytee pet supplies at Target and online at Target.com.  Don’t forget to take advantage of the high value $2 off printable coupon.  Here are just a few of the bird and small animal food and products you can find at Target:
